Puerto Guardia

Puerto Guardia is the capital of the Conquistan of the Inner Sea.

Its position at a bottleneck controlling access to the Inner Sea makes it an important centre of maritime trade. Wealth from passing shipping allows the city and its merchant rulers to exercise influence beyond their territorial size.

Diplomacy

Puerto Guardia provides a meeting place for representatives of Caelor's Garden and Fortress Veridian.

Maintaining this role has become more difficult during the Conquistadan Civil War. The merchant leadership attempts to preserve its independence while the Inquistador Theocracy regards the region as a prospective target.

Regional economy

The surrounding merchant cities control important trade routes and shipbuilding resources. Balfour, a major shipbuilding centre, is the other principal city.

The region formerly derived substantial wealth from Mutite deposits, which have largely been exhausted.
