Bennett was a scholar associated with Confluence University, based on Wrinkle Row in Freeport.
Scholarship
His interests included old legends and supernatural subjects. His collection included material concerning ancient creatures and local folklore.
Bennett maintained scholarly contacts beyond Freeport and sent research through correspondence with Confluence University.
His home served as an informal point of contact for scholarship in a town without a university quarter or comparable academic institution.

Bennett was acquainted with Grizzlebeard and frequented Crossed Keys.
Polonius Fumke knew him through his academic network.
Marriage
Bennett was a widower. According to his own account, his wife died of scarlet fever approximately ten years before the events at Amokuali Temple in Y120.

Death and surviving research
Bennett is dead. Before his death, he sent information concerning Little Foot to Confluence University and was awaiting a response.
His former home on Wrinkle Row was looted by Edward Jenkins and his followers. Furniture was dismantled, floorboards lifted, and his possessions removed. Later scavengers stripped what remained, leaving the building an almost empty shell.
Some material from his collection was examined at Crossed Keys by Edward Jenkins, but the collection no longer survives intact at his residence.
