Higher Purpose (Buddy Bond)
#advantage #Rules #character_option
5 points/level
This Higher Purpose does nothing when you’re alone and never aids rolls made for your benefit. However, you get +1 per level (maximum three levels) on rolls you make to render direct assistance to one particular buddy. Examples of when you would receive this bonus:
- When you make complementary skill rolls to support their tasks;
- When you use your skill to cover for their lack of skill;
- Giving them a leg up;
- Tackling them out of harm’s way;
- “Spotting” for them in combat;
- Whenever you roll to provide them with medical care;
- Whenever you try to save their life (e.g., disarming a bomb handcuffed to them or using Swimming to rescue them from drowning).
And so on!
The GM decides when else it applies – it would probably help a Throwing roll to chuck your buddy ammo, but not your DX roll to catch ammo they threw your way.
Your buddy must be someone who you have Sense of Duty (Party) for.
