Mutite Hyper-Adaptation
Imbued Mutite can alter living things over generations through prolonged exposure, producing unusual physical traits and changes to entire ecosystems.
Timescale
Its effects often emerge over generations rather than through an immediate transformation. Ancient deposits can consequently influence the plants and animals surrounding them long after their origin has been forgotten.
Examples
Known examples include:
- The fire-breathing Flamewing Dinosaur.
- The luminous Glowtail.
- Primordial Creatures, which continue growing and do not die of old age.
- Plants whose intelligence has been elevated, including sentient, man-eating forms.
Human resistance
Humans are more resistant to these effects than other flora and fauna.
Limits of explanation
Not every supernatural creature is simply a mutated animal.
Merfolk, for example, involve transformed bodies, altered consciousness, and a connection with Chichinteki. Azcelani scholars disagree over where biological transformation ends and divine or otherworldly influence begins.
