Inert Mutite
Inert Mutite is the common, inexpensive form of Mutite, found throughout Carrouban.
It resembles glass or obsidian: capable of taking an exceptionally sharp edge, but brittle and easily chipped.
Uses
Inert Mutite is embedded into weapons such as the Macuahuitl. Its brittleness makes it unsuitable for armour and limits the usefulness of large, unsupported blades.
Knives, spear points, and replaceable cutting edges are more practical applications.
Identification
Inert Mutite is denser and more easily chipped than Adamant Mutite. Weight and resistance to chipping provide straightforward ways to distinguish them.
Weapon properties
Inert Mutite blades are treated as a good-quality stone blade, but with +1 to cutting and impaling damage (as if fine) and +2 to breakage (as if cheap). It loses its damage bonus if used to parry any weapon (but not an unarmed attack) or to strike DR 2+. See Blade Composition.
