Buried City beneath the City of the Dead

An older Azcelani city lies beneath the inhabited City of the Dead, at the foot of Tēōmeh-Tēōpan.

Burial

An eruption of the volcano buried the surrounding landscape. A new city was subsequently constructed above the older remains. The ruins continue to be uncovered beneath the later settlement.

The living city above

Despite its name, the City of the Dead is a bustling population centre rather than an abandoned necropolis.

The buried city should therefore be understood as ruins beneath an occupied metropolis, not as the entirety of the modern settlement.
