Padded Vest
#Equipment
A thick, sleeveless, quilted cotton corselet (ichcahuipilli). It proved so effective that Spanish conquistadors adopted it themselves, calling it escaupil (see Spanish Conquistador, pp. 13-14).
Layered cloth armor provides better protection than a similar weight of leather armor.
| Common Name | Ethnic Name | Location | DR | Cost | Weight | Don | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Padded Vest | ichcahuipilli | chest | 3 | $190 | 16 | 23 | [1] |
| [1]: The armor is combustible; if DR is penetrated by burning damage it can catch fire. See Making Things Burn (p. B433); treat the armor as resistant. |
Source: Pyramid 3-077 - Combat, page 15 for this being appropriate for Aztecs etc.
Note: This can also be made using Pyramid 3-052 - Low-Tech II.pdf, with the following options:
- Location and DR: Chest, DR3.
- Armor Material: Cloth
- Construction Type: Layered Fabric
It's essentially medium layered cloth armor (from GURPS 4th - Low-Tech, page 112).
