Cults of the Abyssal Clicking

Several cults have arisen around the rhythmic clicking reported beneath the Abyssal Depths.

The sounds

Submerged observers report occasional, rhythmic clicks coming from far below. The sounds have encouraged attempts to identify a pattern or decipher a message. Such attempts are associated with obsession and madness.

Interpretations

Possible explanations include natural geological activity and the movements or communications of an unknown supernatural being. Chichinteki has been suggested as a possible source, but this remains speculation.

The environment

Investigation is made dangerous by the Abyssal Depths themselves. Ships lose their way, sleepers experience persistent nightmares, and animals react with extreme panic.
