Media pica

The media pica (half pike) was a shortened pike, typically about 2½ to 3½ yards long, designed for greater maneuverability than the full battlefield pike. It provided infantry with extended reach for formation fighting while remaining practical in confined terrain, urban combat, and irregular warfare. In the early modern period, it was commonly used by Spanish troops, including conquistadors, alongside swords, shields, and early firearms.
